Mystical Men's Roundtable meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The purpose of the group is the acknowledgment that we are spiritual sojourners, that we are on this journey together, and that, as men, we have a spirituality to contribute to this community.
Each individual on the spiritual path must grow into the harmony, even into the oneness of the male and the female, as spiritual qualities of the manhood and womanhood of God. Dorothy Elder writes in "From the Metaphysical to the Mystical": "The Goal is reached when one has become androgynous, has balanced the masculine and the feminine, the active and the receptive. The feeling nature (feminine) and the masculine (intellect) have blended into Oneness. Perhaps this is the real Mystical Marriage."
What is true of an individual is also true of a community. The men of this spiritual community have a role in realizing this vision of the union with God in mystical marriage of the community. For this reason the level of mystical marriage, the union with God is discovered when in the community both the manhood and womanhood of God, the male and the female spirituality are expressed, and growing into full maturity and are in harmony.
It is an opportunity to open up to each other and share our mutual wisdom based on personal experience in a safe non-competitive and loving environment. We explore issues such as "What is a Man?" and other topics of interest to the group. We therefore give and share with each other feedback and mentor one another to be able to lead our lives as better men as led by the Holy Spirit. We thus help each other feel comfortable in a changing society where the traditional roles of men as providers, protectors, mentors, and friends have been denigrated or simply no longer valued as the main roles men should or ought to play. In other words, we are there for each other, as we struggle to creating, redefining, and modifying our own definitions of manhood. Hence, moral and emotional support have been the cornerstones for the main benefits derived in participating in the Men's group.
